Shoe Review + Giveaway: Katie Bug Shoes

Madelyn can’t hide from me now – she squeaks!

Katie Bug ShoesMadelyn recently got a pair of KatieBugShoes.com Pickle shoes and I wish I had the video camera shooting when she put them for the first time.. her face was so funny! She didn’t know what was going on with her feet.
She took off like a crazy girl about 5 seconds after she realized how fun it was to wear squeaky shoes. She ran around the middle level of the house at least 3 times without stopping. We were all cracking up!

See Madelyn’s squeaky shoes in action here:

These are not your average squeaky shoes. Pickle Shoes are perfect for early walkers and toddlers ages 1-4. I am very impressed with the flexibility and softness of the Pickle’s Supplesoft leather. Madelyn was able to walk run in them right away without needing a “break in” period. Just as is stated on the Katie Bug Shoes website, “Your child won’t want to take them off!”.. Madelyn doesn’t want to take her squeaky shoes off once she has them on. What’s really cool is that the squeakers are removable which means that she can wear the shoes to school and not get kicked out! You can feel pretty confident that you won’t lose track of your child while at the playground if she’s wearing Katie Bug Shoes’ squeaky shoes.. that’s for sure! That’s not an excuse to take your eyes off your child at the playground though.
Like I’ve done with the kids over the years, I’ve learned to tune the squeaking noise out when we’re at home. She loves to go up and down the stairs and make ‘songs’ with her squeaky shoes. Cute.

Madelyn wears a size 9-10 shoe but their largest size, size 8, fits her great. She can even wear socks as shown in the photograph and video above.

More about Katie Bug Shoes:

  • Squeakers can be removed
  • Non skid soles
  • Lots of styles
  • Sizes 4-8

My top 5 New Year’s Resolutions Plans

I don’t do resolutions because history (my history at least) proves that 90% of them aren’t followed through with in the next 364 days… by me.
However, I have plans and below are 5 that I feel very confident that I will follow through with.. (hopefully my husband will follow through with #3 and #5) for me.

Here are the top 5 resolutions (plans) on my list:

1. Get over my serious case of Germophobia. I have to stop Lysoling my jeans and accept that I can wear them twice before washing them.

2. Don’t stress over keeping the house clean. My visitors don’t come over to tour my house, they come to visit… I hope.

3. Get new carpet for the downstairs den/playroom.

4. Spend more time out of the house with the kids.. going fun places (not the grocery store).

5. Get and keep the garage cleaned out long enough so that I can park in it for a few days at least. (will trade ad space on AtlantaMoms.com for a professional organizer!)

Well, those are my top 5 resolutions plans for 2010. What are yours?
Tell me what your top 1-3 resolutions (or plans) are and you’ll be entered to win a $15 Amazon.com gift certificate!

Book review: My New Mac, Snow Leopard Edition

I upgraded my MacBook White operating system to Snow Leopard a few months ago and despite the changes being aesthetically minimal, there are some significant system changes.  I recently got a new MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard and couldn’t be more thrilled with it!

One of my favorite features on the new Snow Leopard OS is that my MacBook Pro wakes up, shuts down, and restarts quicker.  I close my laptop when I know I’m going to be away from it for a while so nothing happens to it while I’m away from it.  I often work at the kitchen table because I can see into the downstairs den where the kids play.  When I open my MacBook Pro whether it just has to wake up or start up, it starts instantly.

My New Mac, Snow Leopard Edition walks readers through 52 useful projects that will have them doing useful things with their Mac right away.  The book is an easy read and I’ve found it very useful when I need to learn more about a feature or how to do something I’m not already familiar with.

A few topics covered in My New Mac, Snow Leopard Edition include:

My New Mac‘s projects cover topics like organizing music with iTunes, tracking birthdays with iCal, and clipping and saving information from the Internet. Readers learn how to:

  • Organize files and folders by color and keyword
  • Connect to the Internet, chat with friends, and listen to online radio stations
  • Install and update software—and remove unwanted programs
  • Set up and manage parental controls to limit kids’ computer and Internet access
  • Share songs, images, and documents with other computers wirelessly
  • Use the built-in firewall and keep their computer and information safe from intruders

Sound ID: Bluetooth Headset – a must have gadget for moms who love to talk on the phone

My 10 year old told me a few months ago that I really shouldn’t talk on the phone while driving. He’s right. We all know it but a huge majority of people still do it. I have a feeling that a lot of moms still talk on their cell phone while driving even though we know better.

Sound ID 400 bluetooth headset reviewEven thought we shouldn’t talk on the phone while driving a lot of people still do. That’s why a headset is important. Most cell phones are bluetooth compatible now which means that you can use a bluetooth headset. I’m sure you know how a headset works but for those of you who don’t, a bluetooth headset ‘connects’ wirelessly to your cell phone, you put it on your ear and you can answer and make phone calls safely while driving if needed. In most cases have to actually dial the phone number.
I’ve been using a Sound ID 400 bluetooth headset and love it. It fits snug in my ear which has been a problem with one other headset I’ve used. The part that goes in the ear can be adjusted to fit the left or right ear just to my liking.

The Sound ID 400 complements the natural hearing process, resulting in a lightweight, comfortable Bluetooth device that is scientifically designed to feel good, look good and sound even better.
Enhancing the natural hearing experience, the Sound ID 400 successfully delivers exceptional wire-free Bluetooth connectivity, including comfort, acoustic clarity and customized sound settings.

Multiple Charging Options: Standard Micro USB charging connector. Charge from the included AC Charger (100-240V) or from a powered USB port on your PC.

I work from home and am on the phone quite a bit so I use my Sound ID 400 bluetooth headset while at home with my home phone. I hardly ever hold a phone anymore. I can talk while cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, etc. Your phone must be within about 30 feet of you but most home phones can be attached to you and your cell phone can be in your pocket and you’re just fine.

The Sound ID 400 bluetooth headset is a well worth it $129 and can be purchased on the Sound ID website here.
