Worry, worry.. for no reason apparently

I was a wreck yesterday (Monday) and this morning (Tuesday).  Besides recuperating from a busy July 4th, I had a couple of things on my mind.

First, I was nervous about Sebastian starting a new camp today, his first day at Camp Kingfisher at Chattahoochee Nature Center which I know he loves because he went last year and LOVED it. In addition to worrying about his first day at camp, I was very worried about Madelyn’s 9am dentist appointment. Ahh!

The Dentist Issue
My issue with the dentist situation

Today’s appointment would be Madelyn’s second visit to the dentist. Actually this might have been her third dentist visit, I may have blocked one visit out… I don’t know. She did great at her last visit so *I don’t know why I was worried*, that’s just the way I am.  I worry.
I got a call from the receptionist at the dentist’s office, Post Oak Pediatric Dentistry in Marietta, yesterday to confirm Madelyn’s appointment and to let me know that she shouldn’t have anything to eat or drink for two hours before her appointment.  What?! Oh Maaaaan!
I immediately started thinking that Madelyn was going to freak in the morning because she wouldn’t be able to give have her morning apple juice.  But then I remembered that Sebastian had to be at camp at 9 this morning, the same time as Madelyn’s appointment. I thought if I took Sebastian to camp and Tim took Madelyn to her dentist appointment, I wouldn’t have to deal with feeling terrible about Madelyn not geting to eat or drink.  So that’s just what I did.  I took Sebastian to camp.  The really funny thing is that Madelyn didn’t even wake up until 8:30! I called  Tim to make sure that everything was OK (to make sure that she wasn’t freaking out about not getting to eat or drink) and found that Tim wasn’t even awake to get her ready so she didn’t even have time to be thirsty before they left for her appointment.
All that f***ing worrying for nothing!

Camp worry

Because I was in such a hurry to get Sebastian and I out of the house this morning and avoid breaking Madelyn’s thirsty heart, Sebastian and I darted out the door at about 7:30, a little early to be leaving for camp. As we were getting in the car I realized that we hadn’t eaten (whoops!) so we stopped at Einstein’s Bagels where we had a nice breakfast and I worried about Madelyn.

Sebastian went to Camp Kingfisher last year and LOVED it but because I’m a worrier, I was concerned that he would be shy or nervous on his first day but had a great time and told me all about it tonight.  The name of his camp group is Crunchy Katydids.  He thought that was really funny.

Swim worry

So now I’m worried about Madelyn’s swim class at Aqua Tots tonight because she’s going to a different location than usual and she doesn’t like change.

Swim update: So, we went to swim and Madelyn was perfectly fine at the new location.  Go figure!  She LOVES Aqua Tots and even floated on her back all by herself for the first time today!  Way to go Madelyn!

The moral of the story is that I should stop worrying.  Everything went great.. camp, dentist appointment, and swim, and all that energy I spent on worrying was for nothing.
Energy can be better used elsewhere.. like on the treadmill.
Awe crap.. I really should get on the treadmill. Now, I’m worried about that. I’m going to bed.

3 comfy & sexy dresses for moms

Having two kids has left me with a body that I don’t feel great about which is why it’s important for me to try to look good even if I know I’m going to be at home all day.  I work from home (most of the time) and as tempting as it is to stay in my pajamas all day, I don’t feel good about myself if I’m in my P.J.’s past 10a.m..  I’m not a sweat suit kind of girl so I mostly wear nice-ish (not button downs but not t-shirts either) shirts and shorts or skirts, around the house and unfortunately I’ve become too comfortable in a few select pieces and wear them too often.  My husband is probably sick of seeing me in the same outfit a few days a week so I’m going to try to invest in a couple of lounge dresses like those featured below which look so super comfy.. and sexy!

According to fashion & trend expert Grechen with GrechensCloset.com, tie waists are always flattering, but for a new mom, you can even tie it above your waist to hide a tummy.

Orlando Farmer’s Market & more places we might go while in Orlando this week

Orlando Farmer's Market at Lake Eola Park

On one of our last vacations to Orlando we visited the Orlando Farmer’s Market.  I don’t remember what we went there looking for.. we were on a mission, but instead we found beautiful caterpillars housed in simple yet pretty clear cases, available for purchase.  No, not to eat.  Anyway, my son (10 years old) had to have one and lucky for him his Grandma thought he needed a caterpillar too.  So, he got a caterpillar from the Orlando Farmer’s Market and despite the fact that it didn’t live to turn into a butterfly (it lived a few weeks), buying that caterpillar gave me just enough experience at the Orlando Farmer’s Market to remember it as a fun place to go with the kids.  There’s so much to look at including the lake that it sits on.   I don’t like vegetables so I don’t stop at the fresh vegetable tables, but I love to stop and look at the orchids, fruit, and the arts & crafts.

I grew up in Orlando, in Longwood to be exact, and I had never heard of a Farmer’s Market until we moved to Atlanta when I was older. But now, Farmer’s Markets in Orlando are the only one’s I go to and it’s not that often.  I’ve been twice.    I’m not sure if we’ll go to the Orlando Farmer’s Market today but it sounds like something fun to do.  I have to pass it by my husband, the kids, and my Dad with whom we’re staying this week and see if they want to go.

The Orlando Farmer’s Market is at beautiful Lake Eola Park and shoppers will find everything from flowers, to face fainting to, fresh fruits & vegetables, pastries, fresh bread, beer & wine.  Sounds like a great day to me!

You can learn more about the Orlando Farmer’s Market on their website here.

Orlando Farmer’s Market Hours: Every Sunday from 10 am – 4 pm.

Do you think that going to a Farmer’s Market is a fun family activity or a ‘shopping experience’?  What other Farmer’s Markets are in or around Orlando?  Tell us and we’ll feature it on the Orlando Edition.
