Eeyore Tunes

Eeyore1Let’s start off with my favorite Eeyore quote:
"This writing business. Pencils and what-not. Over-rated, if you ask me. Silly stuff.
Nothing in it." Eeyore

This is such a fun toy for infants and older babies. What Madelyn does to it more than anything is sit on it! It’s so cute. When she sits on Eeyore, his feet make musical note sounds which she thinks is the most amazing thing ever.
Not only does Eeyore make tunes when Madelyn sits on him, but also when she pushes or squeezes he feet. It’s not hard to get  tunes out of Eeyore.  A different note is played as she pushes each leg.

Babysitter down to six hours a week!

Our babysitter is down to working six hours a week. That’s two three hour days. I know a lot of moms don’t have babysitters so I really shouldn’t complain, but I’m not really complaining.. just nervous.
Nervous as I may be, I am going to have to figure out how to get Sebastian ready for school, get him to school, exercise, eat breakfast, feed Madelyn, play with Madelyn, do the breakfast dishes, and give Madelyn a bath.. all before 9am, when I start work.
Then at 9, I have to start my work day. What will I do with Madelyn?  That is the million dollar question.

If I try to work, as soon as I sit down at the desk, Madelyn starts tugging on me, or climbing up the chair. She absolutely doesn’t want me to work. So, do I wait until she takes her nap which is usually from about 12-2 then work for two hours?  That’s not nearly enough time though. I need to put in a good 7-8 hours just like everyone else, in order to keep the business running smoothly. I have emails to answer, phone calls to make, advertisements to publish, product reviews to post, and accounting to do. Not to mention the unplanned phone calls I have to take whether Madelyn is awake or asleep. Oh, I can’t forget about Sebastian. He’s home from school around 2:30. He is pretty self sufficient at this age, but because I can’t spend the morning working, I am still working when he gets home from school which he doesn’t like.

Meanwhile, I have to eat, exercise, clean, do laundry (almost every day lately), etc. OH, and I like to shower every once in a while too.

UGHGGH!

Any suggestions?

There’s a tree in our roof!?

After all of about 15 minutes of torrential rain yesterday (Sunday), we noticed that several of my mother’s neighbor’s branches broke, and the roads were a mess with debris. "Thank goodness that’s not our house!", I told Sebastian on the way home from my mother’s house.

Tree_ini_roofLow and behold, we drive up to our house and what do you know?  Two large trees in our front yard are split in half (about half way up) and one of the large branches, about 12 inches in diameter, is penetrating the roof
above our living room. The branch is practically at a 90 degree angle as if it fell from the sky and found a comfy spot in our house.

I walked around the yard in amazement, with Madelyn on my hip and Sebastian on the brink of a mental breakdown because he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Meanwhile, I was trying to keep my cool so as to not upset the kids. Of course Madelyn was oblivious to the mess and my stir of emotions. I am grateful because I know the damage could be so much worse and we weren’t home when it happened.Tree2

What a night. Despite all the drama, last night was the first night in Madelyn’s 14 months that she slept in her crib, in her own room, all night!  Yeah.
