What’s this contest about?

The Mommy Insider Editor, Alicia, was chosen along with 11 other awesome bloggers in the U.S. to be part of Corner Bakery Cafe’s Holiday Corner Catering Challenge. The challenge required that we (the challenged bloggers) arrange food catered to us by Corner Bakery Cafe in a festive way. I went through a few ideas before settling on a Nutcracker theme which my kids LOVED! What they really love is that we have six more Nutcrackers to play with this year than last year. Greedy little kids! Unfortunately, two of the Nutcrackers Sebastian and I picked out were kicked out of the scene due to space issues.

About our party

We had a great party with a couple of families who put a lot of work into my son’s Cub Scout pack, den.. not sure which it’s called. They work hard to keep the Cub Scouts busy and I honestly don’t know how they do it with kids, work, and all. Thanks Kim, Jeff, Holly, and David for joining our Corner Bakery Cafe party and for waiting until I got my 1000th photograph before eating the awesome food!
The food was delightful. Crisp vegetables and delicious dip, sandwiches packed with juicy meat, cheese, & vegetables and deserts filled my dining room table with happiness.. for a little while at least. The food disappeared pretty quickly. The Baby Bundt Cakes were divine.. yum.. and the kids have never enjoyed my chocolate chip cookies (refrigerated dough) nearly as much as Corner Bakery Cafe’s. They could fake it.. or not.

How to vote and what’s in it for you?

Corner Bakery Cafe voteAt the end of the week, if our photograph has the most votes we will receive a Corner Bakery Cafe Holiday Catering Package to giveaway to one of our readers that is located within a Corner Bakery Cafe community. The Santa Bribe.. Happening now and not working

I feel bad that I am in the process (I’m laying in her bed as I type this on my iphone) of bribing my 3 year old to take a nap by saying that Santa brings gifts to sweet girls not naughty girls. I didn’t do that with my now 10 year old when he was 3 years old. I didn’t have to.

I feel bad because I know she’s going to get gifts no matter what. I guess I didn’t lie though. ‘Santa’ prefers to bring gifts to sweet kids rather than naughty kids.

Sigh.. she just sat up in bed and with the cutest voice said “Mommy, I don’t know how to sleep”.

Wish me luck!

UPDATE: She’s asleep on my chest now.

RedPlum’s Cheap & Chic Holiday Gift Guide – 30 Great Gifts Under $30

Last week I attended RedPlum’s “My Frugalicious Holiday” party here in Atlanta along with lots of other local Atlanta bloggers including Living as Mom, ATL Deal Finder, and The Divine Miss Mommy. Who knew these great bloggers were so close to me?!

Hair Couture.. sushi hair clips from Ruby’s Closet and a coupon code

Madelyn went through a phase during which she didn’t want anything in her hair.. hairbows, clips, or headbands.  A 2 1/2 year phase in fact.  She’s 3 now and is more open to letting me fix her hair and put hair clips in it especially now that it’s long and she gets annoyed when it falls in her eyes and face.

I recently received a few gorgeous and fun hair clips from Ruby’s Closet to feature here on The Mommy Insider and Madelyn had them all in her hair within a few minutes of seeing them.

I love Ruby’s Closet’s Sushi hair clip set.  I love sushi and bright fun colors so I think this is a really fun clip.  I also love the Patchwork clips and have worn the one Madelyn is wearing in the photograph myself and was complimented!

Ruby’s Closet has a huge selection of fun, bright, creative, and colorful clippies and headbands. Each flower or clippie can be slipped through a loop on the headbands or hats to mix and match. This is great for keeping your daughters clippies from infant to child. It also lets you change up your child’s look for each outfit. All clippies come with a chemical and latex free “no slip” liner that works great for keeping the clippies in little or no hair.

Ruby’s Closet hair clips make great stocking stuffers!

How much are they? Prices vary – $3.99, $7.50+
