Tips for Getting MORE and a Tony’s Pizza Giveaway!

Tony's PizzaI am  working on learning how to manage my household while stretching dollars and here are a few ways I’m doing that, that you can do too!

Get  MORE out of Food:

Every woman I know is trying to get more out of dinner these days, whether it’s more groceries for the dollar or more food in those groceries, or more meals out of that food.  It’s tough when we’re so tight on time–and money.  But if you can take a few minutes to plan out a solid menu you’ll actually save yourself time in the end.

Think about it.  How many times have you gone in the grocery store for a bag of shredded cheese and walked out with everything but that one ingredient you needed most?  Or, maybe you remembered the cheese but ended up with $100 worth of junk food that you really didn’t need because you were mindlessly throwing things in the cart without trying to put together a meal.  It happens to me all the time.

But it doesn’t have to happen if I simply make out a list and stick to it.  Seriously.  That’s not so complicated, is it?  You can even get the kids involved.  Make it a Sunday evening ritual if it helps.  Write down the meals you want for the week, what it takes to make them, and then stick to that list when you’re in the store shopping.  Having a list also could help you look for coupons you can use instead of aimlessly clipping and buying items simply because they’re on sale.

You can even come up with a couple meals made from the leftovers–possibly lunches the next day.  There are grocery shopping list templates all over the web if that makes it easier for you.  No matter how you choose to go about it, I highly suggest you get that list going soon.  It could make all the difference.

Get MORE around the House:

I am always thinking of ways to reuse things we might normally discard.  I really don’t need to hold on to the container the strawberries come in or the little plastic paper clip containers, but I do. I do a pretty good job at finding some way to reuse containers.  For example, Strawberry containers make really good marker and crayon holders and paper clip containers make good boxes for nails and other small items.  How do you reuse every day household items?

Get MORE from your money:

Saving money can be hard.. but even doing small things like shutting doors quickly when it’s cold outside and not letting the water run, can save a considerable amount of money on your water, electric, and gas bills.  Also, consider turning the TV off a couple of days a week. Make two days a week “No TV Day”.  You’ll be amazed at the things your kid’s find to do.  Maybe they’ll play outside, make up a few games, or clean their rooms! That last one was a joke. 😉  Turning off the TV just two days a week will save money on your electric bill.  You’ll see a difference.

Do you need  MORE out of every day life?

One lucky winner will receive a $500 Visa gift every day – to put towards anything they want – you could put this towards your grocery bill every week for a month!  This giveaway is not hosted by TheMommyInsider.com.

Yoplait Frozen Smoothie and 3 Speed KitchenAid Blender Review and Giveaway

I used to stop at a local Smoothie shop on my way to work every day.  I relied on my daily smoothie to get me through the day.  It had a shot of Turbinado sugar in it, giving me the boost I needed after a long night of partying the night before.  Since having kids, I’ve gotten out of the habit of drinking a smoothie every day and I miss that tradition.  Up until I learned about Yoplait Frozen Smoothie mix that is.

Yoplait Frozen Smoothie

A few days ago, I tried Yoplait’s new Blueberry Pomegranate and Triple Berry frozen smoothie and made it using a new the new KitchenAid 3 Speed Blender that was sent along with the coupon for the smoothie mix.  My kids are huge milkshake fans so I thought surely they would be super excited to make smoothies at home.  And they were!  Half of the fun was in making the smoothies..especially for my four year old daughter who isn’t keen on trying new things but she loves helping in the kitchen.  Anyhoo.. my husband and kids were about to enjoy a backyard bon-fire and were really excited about taking their smoothies out with them.

Drinking one Yoplait Frozen Smoothie will help you get important nutrients, including vitamin C and calcium your body needs.   Making a Yoplait frozen smoothie is simple.  All you have to do is put the fruit contents and the recommended amount of milk into your blender and whala, you have a delicious smoothie!  You can make your smoothie with milk, soy milk, or coconut milk.  Whichever floats your boat. What an easy and delicious way to meet a few nutritional goals each day!  Each package of Yoplait Frozen Smoothies contains one full serving of fruit and makes two servings and what’s really great is that each serving is just 110 to 120 calories.

Tony's Pizza Mom

I know you want to run over to Tonys99DaysOfMore.com to enter to win some great prizes but first..

Here are a few tips I want to give you so that you can get more value in different areas of your life:

  1. Nutritional Value:
Check the nutritional value of the food that you buy.  For example, compared to another leading brand, Tony’s Pizza has less Cholesterol and Sodium in their Cheese Pizza.  These things are important!  When we’re going to splurge and have a pizza night, make it right with a Tony’s Pizza.. with less of the bad and more of the good!
  2. Monetary Value:
When grocery shopping, try store brand products.  Name brand products don’t always provide more value. Keep that in mind.  While I feel it is very important to buy reputable ‘name brand’ products for some household and food items, I have over the last year tried store brand products that cost less and provide the same or better value than the brand name product.
  3. Family Value:
Add value to your family life by setting aside a few hours one or two days a week when you turn off the TV, video games, and computers, and just hang out with each other playing games, talking, and having fun!
