Party of Nine

Partyofninebook
Most of you know that I’ve got two children. Sebastian is seven and Madelyn was born in May of 2006. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said "I can’t believe there are parents that can handle three (or more) kids!"  I feel so out of control with just two kids, a business, a husband, two cats, a fish, laundry, homework, cleaning, feeding everyone, and I sometimes forget to take a shower!

I love kids. I was a nanny for years, when I was in college because I love being around children. BUT, it takes a special kind of person to effectively raise multiple children.

Imagine having seven children! The thought makes me shiver.

Party of Nine author Jennifer Hanselman is the mother of Ohio’s
first set of sextuplets and their super big brother. At special times
in the kids’ lives, she collected her thoughts on managing her
challenging family and put her thoughts together in the form of this great book, Party of Nine.

When I received Party of Nine to review on The Mommy Insider, I have to admit, I was not thrilled with the idea of reading about how this ‘great mom’ handles parenting seven children when I have a hard time with two.  However, I quickly realized that this book was not about how perfect their life is, how well they handle fifty dirty diapers a day, or how great their nannies are.  Party of Nine is about two real parents, with real children, and real challenges. You learn how they handle tons of dirty diapers, teething, and everything else that comes along with seven children.

Party of Nine is an easy and enjoyable read.
