Kajeet cell phone service for kids

Skins The Kajeet cell phone service and our Sanyo KANTARA cell phone have been SO FUN to review!  I’ve had a blast using all of the features including the digital camera, downloading fun wallpapers and ring tones, and setting the alarm to wake Sebastian up bright and early in the morning!  Besides all of these features, the Kajeet cell phone service gives parents the opportunity to set which features your child is allowed to use, when your child can make and/or receive phone calls and from whom.

Below is a screen shot of my contact manager page on the Kajeet.com website for Sebastian’s cell phone.  On this page, I can add contacts, state if he is allowed call/text these contacts and I can even assign which ‘wallet’ these calls and text messages are paid from.  I can log on to this page and edit contacts, what’s allowed and wallet information 24/7.

Both parent and child can have their own Kajeet ‘wallet’ accessible on the kajeet.com website 24/7.   If you want your child to pay for calls he/she makes to friends, you can require that they pay for those calls out of their wallet.  If you want to pay for calls your child makes to you or receives from you, those minutes are paid for out of the parents wallet.  The ‘wallet’ feature is one of my favorite features.

The digital camera quality is great… better than my cell phone as a matter of fact!  The photograph to the right was taken from Sebastian’s kajeet cell phone but keep in mind that the quality isn’t going to be the same being transfered from the phone to this website. The actual quality was quite a bit better than this.

Like other cell phone plans for kids, the kajeet phone plans are paid by minute. I think this is a great way to teach kids how to save and spend money. When Sebastian first started using his kajeet phone, he wouldn’t talk for more than about 30 seconds at a time before he would tell the person on the other end of the line that he didn’t want to use all of his minutes and he better get off the phone in a hurry! That is so great!

Other notable features –

Favorites – When Sebastian opens his Sanyo cell phone, one of the first things he see’s is the "favorites" button in the bottom left corner of the screen. When he pushes this button, he is taken to a list of his favorite contacts AS WELL AS other favorites including one of my favorite features of the phone which is the Google Maps Application. Oh my gosh.. I can’t tell you how much I love this feature. Simply enter a business name or type of business and the phone finds the businesses in YOUR area (based on the zip code entered when you sign up for a phone number) so you can quickly find a place to eat or shop right from your car!

Alarm – You can set up to five alarms. I set one to wake Sebastian up nice and early in the morning.

There are so many other features including security and media features.  You can visit the website to learn about all of the cool kajeet features and to view the four kajeet compatible phones currently available.

Cupcake pettiskirt

Hoenshelcouture_skirt1 Madelyn LOVES her pettiskirt from Hoenshel Couture. Watching her walk around the house in her pettiskirt is the cutest thing.  I thought she might be bothered by all the fluff, but she loves it. She smiles so big when she runs her hands through her pettiskirt and spins around to see the ruffles go up and down.

The Cupcake pettiskirt is made of 50 yards of super soft fluff.  Think cloud..you know when your on an airplane and you fly through a cloud?  The pettiskirt fabric doesn’t irritate Madelyn’s sensitive baby skin,or snag on everything she walks by like some fabrics we’ve had experience with.

I can totally see Madelyn wearing her pettiskirt at Sebastian’s baseball game practice! How cute would that be?  This gorgeous petticoat ruffle skirt would work great for costume, photo portrait prop, birthdays, special event, pageant wear, sports wear or casual wear, or dress-up.

Your princess deserves her own pettiskirt from Hoenshel Couture.  Sizes range from newborn all the way up to size 10.  If only I could get away with wearing one of these!

If you aren’t thrilled about the colors of this pettiskirt, Jamie will work with you to design a custom 50 yard pettiskirt that has the colors that you or your child prefer.  I am really enjoying the Cupcake style because there are so many colors in it.. Madelyn can wear her pettiskirt with just about any color baby tee and she has lots of baby leggings that top of the look!

After Madelyn wore her pettiskirt in the yard last week, naturally it got a few specs of dirt on it and I freaked. Much to my surprise, it’s maching washable.  That’s the icing on top of the cupcake!!  Ha ha!

UV Protectant Swim & Play Wear

Sunsmart_both1Did you know that a bad sun burn before the age of 10 can give you up to a 50% chance of getting skin cancer as an adult?  I didn’t. That is a really scarry thought. I am glad Sebastian and Madelyn have UV Protectant swim/play wear from SunSmart.ca.

SunSmart has come up with a great, fun way for kids to have fun in the sun and parents don’t have to worry about their skin suffering the damaging effects of UV rays.

SunSmart’s swim and play wear not only protects your child from damaging UV rays, they are also fun to wear!  Both Sebastian and Sunsmart2Madelyn wore their SunSmart outfits for one full day (Sebastian actually slept in his!) and had a blast wearing them. Quit honestly, I was amazed that Madelyn didn’t pull at the fabric around her neck as it comes up higher than her usual clothing does which provides great UV protection on her delicate skin. Madelyn waltzed around the house and yard all day with no complaints.

Sebastian absolutely LOVES his SunSmart outfit. On more than one occasion, he commented on how comfortable the outfit is and that he was going to wear it forever. That could get a little smelly.

Although Madelyn can’t really appreciate the super hero design on the outfits, Sebastian sure did. At seven years old, he is all about super hero’s.  He was thrilled that he is Superman and Madelyn is Supergirl. How cute!

With sizes for babies all the way up to teens, kids of all ages can now be protected from the sun in fashion!

School Zone interactive products

Schoolzone_interactiveSebastian has so much fun with his School Zone Puzzle Play workbooks. I’m a computer geek so I love to see Sebastian doing something constructive on his computer.

The School Zone Interactive products include a workbook and a CD-ROM.  The workbook is full of colorful mazes and the software provides 30 creative backgrounds on which Sebastian can create his own maze puzzle. Sebastian designs the path of his maze from a "Start" point to the "Finish." Children can use a mouse to design their maze path or they can use the arrow keys. I love this feature. Some kids get frustrated with the mouse, so having the option to use the keyboard keys is great.  When Sebastian finishes his path, the computer fills in the rest of the maze with misleading and dead-end pathways.

After Sebastian creates his maze, he can solve the puzzle with a race against the clock, or a little computer guy which Sebastian prefers.

Sebastian’s second favorite Puzzle Play workbook is the Hidden Pictures. The workbook comes with over 50 colorful hidden pictures pages. The CD-ROM is a little more challenging to figure out but once your child gets it, he will have a blast!  Your child adds objects on top of a picture and then the objects magically sink into the picture. To solve the puzzle, the person playing it is shown the picture with a grid on it. By selecting coordinate points, the player can direct a funny character to dig at the point he or she selected.
To add some excitement (even more!), your child also embed goodies and gags.

School Zone Puzzle Play workbooks are geared for children ages 6-8 but we have a few 5 year old product testers use the workbooks and software and they did just fine with a little supervision.
