Gelaskins

GelaskinsThese are so fun! I recently received a robot laptop skin and a cute ‘Backwoods’ iPhone skin.  For those of us who go to Starbucks to get out of the house and get some work done a few days a week, Gelaskins are a real conversation starter.  I may have an older laptop than some of the ‘hip’ kids at Starbucks buy I sure have a cooler one than they do!  Ha ha.

Gelaskins offer protection and added style for your favorite devices including your iPod, iPhone, MacBook, or PC laptop.

These make a great gift for teenagers, computer geeks, and for those who just need a little extra pizaz!

Kajeet cell phone service for kids

Skins The Kajeet cell phone service and our Sanyo KANTARA cell phone have been SO FUN to review!  I’ve had a blast using all of the features including the digital camera, downloading fun wallpapers and ring tones, and setting the alarm to wake Sebastian up bright and early in the morning!  Besides all of these features, the Kajeet cell phone service gives parents the opportunity to set which features your child is allowed to use, when your child can make and/or receive phone calls and from whom.

Below is a screen shot of my contact manager page on the Kajeet.com website for Sebastian’s cell phone.  On this page, I can add contacts, state if he is allowed call/text these contacts and I can even assign which ‘wallet’ these calls and text messages are paid from.  I can log on to this page and edit contacts, what’s allowed and wallet information 24/7.

Both parent and child can have their own Kajeet ‘wallet’ accessible on the kajeet.com website 24/7.   If you want your child to pay for calls he/she makes to friends, you can require that they pay for those calls out of their wallet.  If you want to pay for calls your child makes to you or receives from you, those minutes are paid for out of the parents wallet.  The ‘wallet’ feature is one of my favorite features.

The digital camera quality is great… better than my cell phone as a matter of fact!  The photograph to the right was taken from Sebastian’s kajeet cell phone but keep in mind that the quality isn’t going to be the same being transfered from the phone to this website. The actual quality was quite a bit better than this.

Like other cell phone plans for kids, the kajeet phone plans are paid by minute. I think this is a great way to teach kids how to save and spend money. When Sebastian first started using his kajeet phone, he wouldn’t talk for more than about 30 seconds at a time before he would tell the person on the other end of the line that he didn’t want to use all of his minutes and he better get off the phone in a hurry! That is so great!

Other notable features –

Favorites – When Sebastian opens his Sanyo cell phone, one of the first things he see’s is the "favorites" button in the bottom left corner of the screen. When he pushes this button, he is taken to a list of his favorite contacts AS WELL AS other favorites including one of my favorite features of the phone which is the Google Maps Application. Oh my gosh.. I can’t tell you how much I love this feature. Simply enter a business name or type of business and the phone finds the businesses in YOUR area (based on the zip code entered when you sign up for a phone number) so you can quickly find a place to eat or shop right from your car!

Alarm – You can set up to five alarms. I set one to wake Sebastian up nice and early in the morning.

There are so many other features including security and media features.  You can visit the website to learn about all of the cool kajeet features and to view the four kajeet compatible phones currently available.

Lamaze Dream Screen

Lamaze_dream_screen1The Dream Screen is one of those toys that looks like something from the future.   The clean lines and bright colors of the screen make the Dream Screen captivating. The dual motion screen plays soft
m
usic when activated by you or your baby.

There are three play modes.
The first is a 5 second mode. The music plays and the screen moves when baby swats the little yellow guy hanging down from the Dream Screen. You can also customize music
for baby by connecting your MP3 Player to the Dream Screen. This mode is great because it teaches baby cause and effect.
The second mode is a continuous play mode. When turned on, the Dream Screen will play music and the screen moves for 15 minutes.
The third mode is the MP3 mode. Attach your MP3 player to the back of the Dream Screen and baby can listen to her favorite tunes.

Below is a video of Madelyn enchanted by her Dream Screen. The video is pretty dark because I wanted to shoot the video at night so you can see the Dream Screen lit up.  If you look closely enough you will see Madelyn staring at the screen.

Skip Hop Toolbox – a mommy must have

Good1_2What do parents need/use every day or pretty often?  Diapers, wipes, diaper cream, socks, thermometer, baby lotion, and the list goes on. That list is some of what is easily stored in the SKIP HOP Toolbox.  When we hired our nanny, I think she was confused as to why we don’t have one  place in the house where we change Madelyn’s diapers.  I explained to her that because our house is multi leveled and it’s not always convenient to  go upstairs or down stairs when Madelyn needs changing, we just have diapers and wipes scattered through out the house.   I was absolutely thrilled when I received the SKIP HOP Toolbox for review.  I filled the Toolbox up right away and have to say that I am very impressed with the amount of ‘stuff’ the Toolbox holds.

What is most valuable to me about the Toolbox is that I no longer have to search the bathroom cabinets, and drawers, and closets for Tylenol, nail clippers and other things that we don’t use everyday but often enough. These items are now stored in our SKIP HOP Toolbox.

This is a great gift for a baby shower or new mom. The SKIP HOP Toolbox is available in three colors, is very durable, and wipes clean with a cloth.

I found that if I stack several diapers on one side of the caddy then I can fit a full size diaper wipe box on the other side!  This is a mommy must have!

Features:

  • Holds up to 12 diapers.
  • Two drawers on the bottom that pull both ways for extra storage.
  • Two detachable side pockets.
  • Handle for easy carrying.
