My iPhone 3G screen shattered last night!

iPhone 3G shattered screen

I can’t say it wasn’t my fault. I was getting out the car, holding two books in my arm with my iPhone on top of the books. I think I was trying to hold the door open so Madelyn’s fingers wouldn’t get squished while she was trying to squeeze past Sebastian who was not in a hurry to get out of the car. Things were just a little chaotic. My iPhone slipped off the book and landed flat on the driveaway then bounced over to land on its back. Serious, major, HUGE bummer! I feel like an idiot for letting that happen.
Over the years my iPhone has been abused by the kids and myself (not on purpose) and I guess that I started to think it was invincible. NO, it’s not. Just the right fall, the right angle, and the right surface shattered my iPhone screen and not as if I didn’t already, but I realize how attached I am to it and how much I rely on my iPhone.
Every night when I put Madelyn to bed, I lay with her and read the news on my iPhone. I check my email on my iPhone when I’m out, I have several applications I use regularly such as Things, iNotify, and TwitterFon.

What am I going to do? Oh wait.. I also make and receive phone calls from my iPhone. Huh, I forgot it’s a phone. There really is no point to this post except to remind my readers that iPhones aren’t unbreakable and unfortunately, you can’t get insurance on an iPhone through AT&T (when I purchased mine that wasn’t an option).

Today I’m struggling with these options:

  • Apple will replace the screen at the Apple store for $199 (the cost of a new iPhone!?)
  • I found several online stores that sell replacement iPhone screens for $25-$60+ and extra for the tools required to replace the iPhone screen myself (Tim would do it).
  • Get a new iPhone
  • Borrow my Dad’s extra iPhone.. but I feel bad about that.

Have you ever had to replace your iPhone screen? What do you think I should do?

Dyson DC25 featured as a robot in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Dyson DC25 featured in Transformers: Revenge of the FallenAs you may know I am a total gadget geek.  I love gadgets and vacuums are no exception.  Over the last couple of years I have been given the opportunity to review a few Dyson vacuums including a canister vacuum and a hand held and have been extremely happy with both.  The hand held gets used several times a day (no kidding) to pick up snack crumbs, scraps of paper from Madelyn’s cutting projects, and naturally.. cereal that falls on the floor when my 9 year old pours it himself.  I know, pouring cereal is a tough job.  Our Dyson Canister is used about 2 times a week and what’s really cool is that it’s my husband or Sebastian that uses it!
I received a Dyson DC28 this week and will review it very soon.

What’s up with the vacuum in the photograph you ask? Well, it’s just about the coolest thing ever, duh!

You’ve probably heard that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen broke box office records on its opening day but quite frankly what’s more intriguing to me than the movie  though, (I’m not a big movie fan) is that a Dyson DC25 vacuum transforms into a Decepticon robot in the movie!  My husband can’t wait to see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and will the first chance he gets.  And because he and my son think our Dyson Canister is a weapon which is why they actually use it, I know he’ll love seeing the DC25 transform into a Decepticon robot.

The Dyson DC25 is an upright vacuum cleaner that features Dyson’s famous ball technology which makes the vacuum exceptionally easy to maneuver and vacuums the dirt (and kiddie crumbs) out of the carpet like you wouldn’t believe.

I will be reviewing the DC28 Animal (the newest Dyson Vacuum (upright) and a well-worth-it $599) within a few days so keep visiting and sign up for our email updates to get the review right in your inbox!

Picture Keeper – makes saving and sharing your photographs a snap!

I just love this new gadget!  There is not a mom I know that couldn’t use a Picture Keeper.

The Picture Keeper is a flash drive with embedded software that you don’t have to download to your hard drive–you just plug it in and it finds and copies all of your image files! Have more than one computer?  You can use the same Picture Keeper for multiple computers, including a Mac and a PC!  I have a PC desktop and a Mac laptop and it’s great to know that Picture Keeper will work on both.

When all of your photographs are on the Picture Keeper, unplug it and store it in a safe place. If you have a digital photo frame, plug the Picture Keeper in for an instant slide show. Or take your Picture Keeper to the drug store to select and print photos from a kiosk. Every time you take new photos and download to your computer, just plug in the Picture Keeper and it will find the new or modified files and add only those!

For more information about Picture Keeper and to buy a 8GB or 16GB Picture Keeper visit the Picture Keeper website here.

Product review + Giveaway:
slotRadio the instant load music player bundled with a 1,000 song slotRadio™ Mix card

slotRadio

I’ve been using a really great gadget called the slotRadio when I exercise lately.   As you may have read in some of my previous posts, I am a poster girl for adult ADHD.  That being said, the slotRadio is a pre-loaded mp3 player.. keyword – pre-loaded.  People with ADHD love just about anything that’s ‘pre’ such as  ‘pre’school which gets the kids out of our hair for a few hours a day so we can better manage our ADHD and the 5 million things we have to do.   Pre-loaded means that you don’t have to choose songs to put on the MP3 player and spend your valuable time transferring songs from your computer to your MP3 player.

slotRadio clips anywhere

The slotRadio comes pre-loaded with the slotRadio Mix including 1,000 songs and you can buy additional cards that slip right into the slotRadio, just like an SD card for your camera does, that come pre-loaded with another 1,000 songs.   The slotRadio Mix card that comes with the slotRadio includes Alternative, Rock, Chillout, Country, Contemporary, R&B Hip Hop, and Workout playlists.  While I’m exercising I stay pumped with the Workout playlist and when it’s time to cool down I switch to the Chillout playlist.
